Japan to Cut Food Tax to 1% for Two Years as Inflation Pressures Mount
Japan will slash its consumption tax on food from 8% to just 1% starting April 2025 for two years, marking the first cut since the tax's introduction in 1989. PM Sanae Takaichi says the move addresses inflation and cost-of-living pressures.
